Can You Help Our Team Reach Kids in Brazil?

We’ve got less than four weeks to raise up prayer warriors, and funding for scholarships, Bibles, Balls, and T-Shirts.

JOY IN GOSPEL PARTNERSHIP
As our short-term missions team prepares to leave for Rio de Janeiro on July 4, 2021, I am reminded of the joy Paul talked about in Philippians 1:3-5. He said “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”

Joy through partnerships. And, I thank God for your partnership, whether through prayer, through giving, or by going in support of our Gospel work in Brazil. Our team is trusting the Lord that He already knows who will be led to get involved and help us meet these specific needs. Thank you for your support.

THE NEED IN RIO
There is a great need in Brazil for sound evangelistic outreach, for discipleship, discipleship training, and pastor training and mentoring for church planting.

Brazil is a country of nearly 215M people, yet only 22 percent claim affiliation with a Protestant church. A smaller percentage actually get involved as active members of a Bible-believing church.

That is why we are partnering with two Brazilian ministries that are calling on the Lord to raise up more workers, and to raise up a strong Gospel witness across the entire country, beginning in the greater Rio de Janeiro area.

In Rio – Pastor Joe Souza is praying about a church planting movement of Portuguese and English-speaking pastors rising up out of Rio and multiplying. Our work with Pastor Joe and the Celebration Church Planting Network will focus on creating awareness through neighborhood engagement, prayer walking, and a block party for Celebration’s brand new church plant.

In Saquarema – Pastor Hilario Polanco leads Voando Alto, a Gospel-centered ministry to the rural-poor. He serves more than 160 elementary-aged kids, who are excited to have our team coming to do a three-day, backyard bible club / camp.

Our team is working right now to finalize everything for this trip. Through all the planning, the pre-trip meetings and prayer, there are four main things we would ask you to consider helping with today:

PRAYER
Our intentional and consistent prayer is the most important thing we can do for our partners. So, we want to sincerely invite you to pray alongside us: pray for our partners; for all the people we will share with; for our team; and for yourself, that God would use your prayers mightily to change you for His glory.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND
We want to offer students opportunities to go to the international mission field. So we have created a scholarship fund that allows students to request up to half of the cost of a trip. We have a current need for $2,250. We are praying that we can raise this amount, and grow the fund beyond that number for future trips.

BIBLES
We want to share Christ with the kids in Saquarema while we are there. But after we are gone, we want to leave behind the Word of God. We have arranged to purchase Bibles for Voando Alto at $25 per Bible. The number of Bibles we can give will depend on the amount we are able to raise.

BALLS
Another way to reinforce the Gospel message in Saquarema is to leave a gift for each kid to take home and call his or her own. We consulted with our partners and decided on a simple ball at a cost of $5.00 each. That’s a total of $800 so that every kid can have a ball. Would you consider sponsoring this specific need?

T-SHIRTS
One of the coolest things for kids in a three-day camp is that they can wear their camp T-shirts. So we designed a shirt that costs $8.00 per shirt. That’s $1,280 that we are praying about raising before the production / shipping deadline of June 14, 2021. Would you consider sponsoring this specific need?

Can You Go to Brazil With Us?

To this point in our ministry, we have been blessed to serve pastors and leaders in churches where we already have working relationships. If we have not had the chance to introduce our ministry to you, your church and your missions leaders, we would love the opportunity to do so soon.

If you have an interest in our Brazil trip, we are glad to let you know that we have room for a couple more students to help us do the kids camp in Saquarema, and the neighborhood engagement and block party in Rio de Janeiro.

We also have an opportunity for a couple of adults (parents, pastors, missions leaders, lay leaders) to join us, to offer their gifts, their testimonies, and an extra pair of hands and ears. You might consider investing in this trip as a vision tour, where you can come alongside our partners and really get to know them and those they are serving.

The all-in cost of the trip is $1,500 per person (pending current air fares). Partial scholarships for students are potentially available.
