Why are we taking the Gospel to kids and families in poor neighborhoods in Brazil this July?
We finally had the opportunity to visit the colossal, Christ the Redeemer statue last July in Rio, but it was in a no-name slum in Santa Cruz, that we saw the Holy Spirit move mightily.
He was clearly there among the 150 kids and volunteers at our Friday night block party, as our speaker gave a clear Gospel invitation, and 20-30 kids came forward!
I was watching our partner, Pastor Rosalvo, across from me. His smile said it all, as he witnessed something that his church had not seen in 20 years in that neighborhood. He said they just never had the resources for an event of that scale. Until now.
That is because you answered the call to help us, and God enabled us to step up and make a difference. That is what partnership is all about.
Pastor Rosalvo rallied his team to plan and to pray, and the Holy Spirit did the rest, encouraging this long-established church plant that only six months earlier was considering closing down.
This story encapsulates perfectly our work with the Celebration Network in Boston and in Brazil. Because of your support, there are 20-30 families whose stories are now forever changed because Christ used us, together, to meet these kids right where they are.
