Thank you for being a part of our prayer team

We train everyone going on our trips that our intentional and consistent prayer is the most important aspect of our ministry to our partners.

So, for all of you you who are not going to the mission field with us, we are honored to ask you to pray alongside us as we pray.

  • Nothing happens apart from prayer.
  • “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives” (Matt. 7:7-8).
  • Our hope is that you would use this page as a guide to pray for our ministry partners, and our mission.

You might begin by finding a quiet place, and a few minutes to walk through the A.C.T.S. prayer model (see below).

“A” is for adoration

– pray to the Lord with adoration of who He is. Tell the Lord that He is infinite and awesome and mighty to save; that He is  full of grace and mercy and justice; that only He is Holy and worthy of our praise. You might recite some of the names of the Lord. “You are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. You might recite some Psalms of praise like Psalm 34:1-9

1 I will extol the Lord at all times;
His praise will always be on my lips.
2 I will glory in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt His Name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and He answered me;
He delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to Him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
He saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who [reverently] fear Him,
and He delivers them.

8 Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.
9 Fear the Lord, you His Holy people,
for those who fear Him lack nothing.

“C” is for confession

– just admit to the Lord that you need Him; that you are not able to do anything apart from Him. Confess specifically the things that are holding you back in your relationships with Him and with others.

“T” is for thanksgiving

– Pray a prayer of gratitude for everything that God through Christ has done for you (including even the things He has not done, and the things He has done but are not easy). Pray Ephesians 5:20 “always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Everything.

Consider how your thanksgiving ascribes your love toward God and also drives your humility before Him. He is God alone.

Pray 1 Cor 1:4-9 – I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, 5 that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— 6 even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— 7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

And Phi 1:6 – Paul says to his church family “… being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

“S” is for supplication

– supplication is a fancy word for “asking” God to act on yours or someone else’s behalf. The Lord Jesus Himself said we should be specific in our prayers (Luke 11:1-13), and that we should prayer unceasingly (Luke 18:1-8, 1 Thes 5:17).

As you seek to pray for us, and after you have prayed through the A.C.T (above), we would ask you to remember the following in your prayers:

  • Pray for our partners
    • for Pastor Joe, and the Celebration Church Planting Network; that God would use them mightily in Boston and in Rio to plant English-Portuguese-speaking churches that will reach lost souls, lead them to saving grace through Christ, and bring them into the fellowship of the church, such that they too will someday become disciples who make disciples, and plant churches for His Glory.
    • for Pastor Hilario and the whole Voando Alto ministry team, that they would continue to show the love of Christ to kids in Saquarema, and that many of those kids and their families would see their lives changed forever in Christ Jesus.
  • Pray for the people
    • that God would begin preparing hearts of the lost souls we will intersect in Brazil. Pray there would be many, but most of all, pray that each one, individually, would hear the message of salvation through Christ.
    • that the Holy Spirit would come and save each person for all eternity to live a life of joy-filled worship and spirit-filled witness for our Lord.
    • for Brazil, that God would allow a Gospel witness to engage every neighborhood, and that a Bible-believing, Christ-centered, Gospel-preaching church would be within reach of every person in the county, for God’s glory.
  • Pray for our team
    • for our unity in prayer, in fellowship and in purpose.
    • for our preparation as we develop our backyard bible club program in rural Saquarema, and a block party in Rio.
    • for the all of the logistics and planning, including our travel, and fundraising efforts.
    • for our week in the mission field, that we would GO in the Spirit to represent the love of Christ boldly and effectively, that we would uncover and meet needs both immediately and in the future.
    • for our long-term partnerships there to be strengthened.
    • for our post-trip debriefs to reveal the right next steps.
  • For yourself
    • that God would grow you and your love for Him, for Brazil, and for the nations through your consistent prayers.
